Saturday brings the first double-header of IPL 2026, with two matches that carry plenty of early-season intrigue. Delhi Capitals take on Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium at 3:30 PM IST, and Gujarat Titans face Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 7:30 PM IST.

Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians: both sides riding confidence

Delhi and Mumbai enter this one on matching records. Delhi beat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in their opener, recovering from 26 for 4 thanks to Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs. Mumbai chased down 221 against Kolkata Knight Riders, powered by Rohit Sharma's 78 and Ryan Rickelton's 81.

The head-to-head tilts firmly in Mumbai's favour. They have won 21 of 37 IPL meetings, including both clashes in IPL 2025. But Delhi hold a 7-6 edge at their home ground, which should give Axar Patel's side some confidence.

Mumbai get a squad boost with Mitchell Santner arriving in Delhi and available for selection. The New Zealand T20I captain missed the opener and adds spin depth and lower-order batting. For Delhi, the pace trio of T Natarajan, Lungi Ngidi and Mukesh Kumar will need to handle Rohit early. The Mumbai captain has a habit of dismantling Delhi's bowling at this ground.

Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals: Buttler faces his old team

The evening match brings a reunion story. Jos Buttler, bought by Gujarat Titans for 15.75 crore at the mega auction, faces the franchise he represented for seven IPL seasons. Buttler scored 38 in GT's opening loss to Punjab Kings, and will be eager to find bigger scores at home.

Rajasthan arrive in Ahmedabad on the back of an eight-wicket demolition of Chennai Super Kings, a match where 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 52 off 17 balls to set up the chase. The teenager already holds the record for the youngest IPL century, scoring 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. He will have the Ahmedabad crowd on alert from ball one.

Gujarat hold a 6-2 head-to-head lead over Rajasthan across eight meetings, including the 2022 IPL final at this venue. But Riyan Parag's Royals, fresh off their new ownership deal and a commanding first win, have the momentum.

Points table context

Punjab Kings sit top of the table on four points from two wins. Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan and RCB all have two points from one match each. Gujarat, with zero from one, need a home win to avoid early pressure. Saturday's double-header could shuffle the top half of the table before the week is out.
