The ICC unveiled its Team of the Tournament on Sunday after India hammered New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Four of the eleven spots went to Indian players, the largest representation from any country in the XI.

Markram named captain, Farhan tops the run charts

South Africa's Aiden Markram was handed the captaincy after leading his side to the semi-finals and scoring 286 runs with three half-centuries. Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan took the other opening slot as the tournament's highest run-scorer, finishing with 383 runs in seven matches and two centuries against Namibia and Sri Lanka. That tally surpassed Virat Kohli's previous record of 319, set at the 2014 edition, and made Farhan only the second player after Chris Gayle to register multiple hundreds in a single T20 World Cup.

Samson and Kishan anchor the batting

Samson, who also collected the Player of the Tournament award, finished with 321 runs at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.38. He smashed 24 sixes across the competition and delivered three consecutive fifties in India's last three matches: 97 not out off 50 balls against the West Indies, 89 off 42 against England and 89 off 46 in the final. Ishan Kishan contributed 317 runs at a strike rate above 193, giving India a batting lineup that simply overwhelmed opposition attacks.

All-round balance

Hardik Pandya earned his place with a tournament haul of nine wickets to go alongside his runs and two fifties, offering India flexibility in every match. England's Will Jacks picked up four Player of the Match awards through his batting and off-spin, and West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder completed the middle order after strong performances with both bat and ball.

Bumrah leads a fearsome pace trio

Jasprit Bumrah finished as joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 6.21. His spell of 4/15 in the final tore through New Zealand's top order and earned him Player of the Match. England leg-spinner Adil Rashid took 13 wickets at an economy of 8.15, South Africa's Lungi Ngidi claimed 12 at 7.19 an over, and Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani rounded out the attack after a series of match-winning spells in the group stage.

The selection panel comprised Ian Bishop, Eoin Morgan, Natalie Germanos, Gaurav Saxena and Rex Clementine.
