West Indies hammer Zimbabwe by 107 runs after posting 254 in T20 World Cup

Opting to bat first, West Indies amassed 254/6 in their 20 overs, producing one of the highest totals of the tournament. Shimron Hetmyer led the charge with a rapid 85 off 34 deliveries, accelerating the scoring rate during the middle and death overs. Rovman Powell added 59 from 35 balls, ensuring sustained momentum as the total crossed the 250-mark.
Zimbabwe faced a daunting target of 255 and struggled to keep pace with the required rate. Despite early attempts to counterattack, regular wickets prevented the formation of meaningful partnerships.
Gudakesh Motie played a central role with the ball, claiming 4/28 in his four overs. Akeal Hosein supported effectively, taking 3/22 in 3.3 overs as Zimbabwe were dismissed for 147 in 17.4 overs.
The 107-run margin highlighted West Indies’ dominance across both innings and strengthened their standing in the Super 8 stage. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, were unable to recover after conceding a substantial total on a batting-friendly surface.
