Sri Lanka posted 225-5 — the highest total of the tournament so far — powered by half-centuries from Pavan Rathnayake, Kusal Mendis and captain Dasun Shanaka.

Shanaka delivered a 19-ball 50, the fastest T20I half-century by a Sri Lankan, striking five sixes in a late assault that lifted the co-hosts to their second-highest total in T20 World Cup history.

Oman struggled in response and were restricted to 120-9 in 20 overs, with Muhammad Nadeem top-scoring with 53 not out. Only two Oman batters reached double figures as Sri Lanka’s bowlers maintained control throughout.

The result gives Sri Lanka two wins from two in Group B ahead of their upcoming clash against Australia, while Oman remain winless after two matches.
