Munsey and Leask power Scotland past Italy in 73-run win

Scotland posted 207-4 after a powerful innings from George Munsey, who struck 84 off 54 balls. The left-hander shared a 126-run opening partnership and helped Scotland record their first-ever 200-plus total at a men’s T20 World Cup — also the highest total by an associate nation in tournament history.
Brandon McMullen added 41 not out from just 18 deliveries, while Michael Leask smashed 22 from the final five balls to lift Scotland beyond 200.
Italy responded with a 73-run stand between brothers Ben and Harry Manenti, with Ben top-scoring with 52. However, once the partnership was broken, Scotland’s spin attack took control.
Leask delivered outstanding figures of 4-17, supported by Mark Watt’s 2-24, as Italy were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs.
The result leaves Scotland with one win from two matches in Group C, while Italy continue their debut campaign and next face Nepal.
